A series of mid-size automobiles produced in 1976, the Honda Accord is sold in most of the markets throughout the world. The Accord, a product of Honda had always been manufactured in Japan, and it became the first Japanese car to be produced in the United States in 1982 when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda’s Marysville Auto Plant.

The Accord has been much successful, particularly in the United States of America, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for 15 years, i.e. from 1982 to 1997, and around 10 million vehicles were sold in 1991 and 2001. Moreover, the Accord is, or has been, manufactured in England, New Zealand, Nelson Guangzhou, China, Sweden, Thailand and Ayutthaya. On May 7, 1976, the first generation of Honda Accord made its debut; it was a three-door hatchback with 68 hp (51 kW), a 93.7-inch (2,380.0 mm) wheelbase, and a weight of almost 2,000 pounds.

Later on, its second generation was revealed on September 22, 1981 in Japan and Europe, and as a 1982 model in North America. This model, being produced in Japan, became the first to also be built in the US at Honda’s plant in Marysville, Ohio.  The third generation had a striking exterior design, bearing a resemblance to the second and third generation Honda Prelude, and it was introduced in Japan on June 4, 1985 and in Europe and North America in 1986. The Accord was further modified in its fourth generation (1990–1993) as it got larger shape based on the “CB” chassis launched in Japan. However, it did not feature a three-door model, and was the first one to be exclusively sold by the Honda Clio dealer network in Japan.

The Accord was moved to a yet larger “CD” chassis, chiefly to better suit the requirements of the North American market in its fifth generation (1994–1997). However, it oddly shrunk in length while having grown in width, leaving it classified as a mid-size car in North America. Later on, for sixth generation (1997–2002), the Honda split the Accord into three separate models. These separate models were meant and designed for the Japanese, North American, and European markets.

The latest Honda Accord model from 2011 comes in three versions, Sedan, Coupe and Crosstour. All three models come with 5-speed Automatic transmission, with an exception at the Coupe, which also has a 6-speed Manual transmission. The Honda Company made three different engines for this model:

177-hp, 2.4-Liter, 16-Valve, DOHC, i-VTEC® 4-Cylinder Engine (LX, LX-P)

190-hp, 2.4-Liter, 16-Valve, DOHC, i-VTEC® 4-Cylinder Engine (EX, EX-L)

271-hp, 3.5-Liter, 24-Valve, SOHC, i-VTEC® V-6 Engine.

This latest Accord model is equipped with a lot of safety features, such as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Driver’s and Front Passenger’s Active Head Restraints, Airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Bluetooth and USB connectivity, Audio MP3 system, Remote entry system were also been installed in this model.
