The Nissan Motors launched the Nissan Sentra as a compact car. Which is usually a rebadged export version of the Japanese Nissan Sunny? The term “Sentra” is not in vogue in Japan. The Sentra’s prices are from $15,000 [base model] to $21,000 [for a loaded Sentra] in the US, where it currently is used as a compact car. Although the former Sentras were subcompact, the Sentra has developed through recent years. Now the Sentra has been substituted by the Nissan Versa in the entry-level.

Markets across globe: The auto made its advent on the international market in the year 1982. In Mexico, the first three generations of the Sentra were known as the Tsuru. Likewise, its 1994 model which went through facelifts thrice, alongside the present Sentra, is still sold under that name.

Moreover, other countries of the Americas like Brazil sell their versions of the Sunny as the Sentra. The first of the Sentras was the B11 [1982-1986 Nissan Sentra], which was a subcompact and a replacement for the Datsun 210. Although former Sunnys were rear-wheel drive, beginning with the B11, they now sported front-wheel drive FF layout.

The B12 [1985–1990] generation carried on the multitude of body styles including 3-door hatchback, station wagon, 2 and 4-door sedans, and the Sport Coupe; these are the features that the B11 already had. The B12 chassis was initially manufactured and marketed in 1985. In 1988, all Sentras had the 70 hp, which was offered with throttle body injection (TBI).

Diesel engines, though rare, were offered in some models but only available in 1987 models of the North America and in certain other countries.

The 90 hp was the only engine option from 1989 to 1990. The B13 [sedan] appeared on the scene, with the fuel injected 110 hp engine. It came in the base model, E, XE, GXE, SE, And Limited Edition. The GXE and Limited Edition came with power package such as power windows/locks/mirrors while the XE, SE, SE-R came with standard or optional sunroof and alloy wheels.

The latest model of the Sentra was introduced in 2011. It came with three available engines: a 2.0L that produces 140 horse powers at 5100 rpm, with a fuel economy of 27 mpg in cities/34 mpg on highways, a 2.5L that produces 177 horse powers at 6000 rpm, with a fuel economy of 24 mpg in cities/30 mpg on highways, and a 2.5L that produces 200 horse powers at 6600 rpm, with fuel economy of 21 mpg in cities/28 mpg on highways. There’s only one transmission package available and it’s a 6-speed manual transmission package. The Sentra 2011 is equipped with several safety features such as, Airbags, Traction control system, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Child-safety rear door locks, Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System. The number of features in the interior cabin depends by the model you will choose.
